It’s not just about what you put on your body here at The Divine Company! It is also what you put into it, and how you treat your body that is just is as important. This year we want to focus on a healthy and happy you – and a lot of the time these two go hand in hand!

This new year brings a great opportunity to make a change! You don’t have to change your entire lifestyle or have a New Year resolution, we recommend a few simple things to increase your happiness, see below and you will have a healthy and happy 2017 in no time!

SMILE

Have you ever heard the saying “smiling is contagious”? That’s because it is! Try smiling every day, and even make it your daily goal to make someone else smile! Smiling releases endorphins, and endorphins are responsible for making you happy! In a bad mood? Smile! It will banish that bad mood and make you feel better!

READ A BOOK

As cliche’ as it sounds, try reading! Aim to read 6 different books this year! It’s been proven that someone who reads will learn something new every day. It not only helps you retain knowledge but it builds up new information that may help you later in life. Reading can also reduce stress, so if you’ve had a big day at work try reading for just 10 minutes! (Facebook doesn’t count!). It will alter your mind and relieve muscle tension.

GET OUTDOORS

If going to the gym isn’t your thing, try getting outdoors a couple times a week. Whether it’s a walk in the park, heading down to the beach or grabbing the girls and having a coffee out in the sunshine. Being outside boosts your endorphins which will reduce stress, ease tension and fatigue! Getting outside will give you a good dose of the Sun’s vitamin D which is effective in promoting your immune system health as well as brain and nervous system.

QUALITY OF SLEEP

Have you ever felt like your body clock is out of whack? Try going to bed and waking up at the same time every day! This is definitely a golden rule to follow for improving your sleep quality. You can also incorporate your book reading into the hour before you go to bed to help you wind down. Ensure your mattress and pillows are comfortable and supportive, and make sure your bedroom is appealing!

GET A DOSE OF COLOURFUL FOOD

Work on your food colour palette so try to incorporate essential vitamins and minerals on your plate, making it not only exciting and colourful but healthy as well! Different colours of food, provide different antioxidants so try a fruit salad instead of satisfying your sweet tooth with that chocolate bar!
