Nourish and protect your skin! Those long days of Summer can leave your skin in need of a little nurturing and nourishment. Over the Summer our skin has been exposed to the elements, the sun, sea and sand can take its toll. During any time spent in the great outdoors in Summer, our skin will be at its most vulnerable to all the elements, so as the weather starts to cool down and we spend more time indoors, it is the perfect time to nourish our skin!

We know you love to cleanse and moisturise but if you are not exfoliating then you skin isn’t as healthy as it could be. Here is your post summer guide to nourish and protect your skin and it is all about exfoliating!

Nurture and Protect: Post Summer Guide

First let’s look at the what exfoliation is… Exfoliation is the removal of the dead skin cells on the skin’s surface, and whilst it sounds a little uninviting  it is so important! Exfoliation is done by using scrubs that contain special kinds of ingredients that gently rub the skin without scrubbing.

The process of cell regeneration in our skin slows down as we get older, if we leave the old skin on the surface it can leave it looking dull, rough and dry. Proper exfoliation removes the barrier of dead skin cells clogging the skin and uncovers fresh new cells below. This opens up the pores and allows your other skin care products to really get into your skin and work their magic. Exfoliating will essentially prep your skin for maximum moisture retention, meaning those beautiful serums and creams you are using will have the best chance of working.

In short you need to make exfoliation a regular part of your skin care routine, not only will it help refine your skin for any moisturiser you lather on, but it will leave your skin looking fresh, healthy and glowing!
